I'd be more interested in Android Go support. As this is specifically designed for low end devices. Battery life might become amazing!

LineageOS or whatever, but PLEASE, release software tools.

Everything will get much easier for you Unihertz, the devices will get more interest... Someone else can help you with battery issues, and such. Do it!

As multitask-domes says, I would also appreciate if you, CMB (or any other twitter user), could initiate some more direct communication with unihertz, linking to this thread, asking directly about freeing the source, if they plan to support LineageOS development for Jelly / Atom, how they waant to fullfill their legal obligation to reveal the source... one question at the time, every other week. Make it visible for people who are interested in buy Jelly or Atom Phones.

But actually I wanted to raise attention on something I recently stumbled upon:
gpl-violations (dot) org
For an introduction, please search it in the English Wikipedia.

Though located in Germany, they already where successful to enforce the conditions of the GPL by court order, and companies where prohibited to sell their products in Germany if they don't comply with the GPL. For Unihertz, Germany seems to be quite some important market. Would be a shame if they were not allowed to sell their products there due to GPL violations. Sounds interessting.

In their "violation FAQ" they say, that also in the United States they had successful court cases and that they cannot think of any reason why it should be different in the rest of the world.

If Unihertz releases the source code, blobs/drivers and kernel, this should be rather simple to do.

If they don't... this might be impossible unless we can steal stuff from similar devices but it would be much more difficult.

I would love Lineage support.  Android 7.0 is causing me all sorts of pain.

I'd really like to see LineageOS support too. Specifically for continued security updates.

I agree this devices seems ideal for Android Go if they are looking at getting Oreo up an running anyways.

What do you mean "if"? It's running Linux. You're required to release the source code. GPL and all that.
