ROM dump

Can someone that received their phone dump the ROM and post it somewhere? I'd love to get to work on porting 8.0 onto these phones. Also, for those of you that want Android Go, you do know that it doesn't exist yet, right? The first support for Go is expected in the first quarter of 2018 (maybe) and it is essentially a stripped down version of 8.0 for low RAM devices (< 1 GB). The Jelly Pro has 2 GB RAM.

if you explain step by step how to do it, I have no problem doing so and sharing it. It would be m ...

You have to download and install fastboot (e.g. from xda). Then you have to "become a developer" (tap several times on Settings -> About Phone -> Build number), after that in the developer options(will appear little higher of About phone) you must turn on "unlock bootloader". If you'll do it, you will always see "device unlocked and can't be trusted" at the boot. Forever
If you going to root your phone you should also install adb, allow "usb debugging" in developer options and follow instructions on http://www.unihertz.com/bbs/foru ... ost&ptid=67&pid=511
If you don't want to root the phone you can stop after step 5. In any case do make backup in TWRP recovery! (We're haven't do it, and that is why we are asking for help )) We need just system partition backup (it's not contain your personal data for sure), but you for yourself can make another backup with other partitions incl. "data" - it contains installed apps and settings.

Some explanation on instructions there
"fastboot mode":
From phone normal mode: connect switched on phone to the desktop computer (laptop and so on). Then in desktop terminal run "adb reboot bootloader" (you have to run "adb devices" and hit "ok" or "yes" in the dialog that will appear on the phone if you didn't do it before). On the phone you'll see black screen with "FASTBOOT" at the bottom
From power off: hold the VOLUME UP key while holding the POWER button until you can see the boot interface. Free you hand and wait for a few seconds then you can see the recovery menu with word “no command” in the mid of screen appears. Again, click the Power button and the Volume up button together to load up the reboot menu, be careful don't long press. In that menu choose "reboot bootloader".
From TWRP: Reboot -> bootloader

"go to recovery":
From phone normal mode: "adb reboot recovery"
From power off (with stock recovery flashed): as described previously, just don't "reboot bootloader"
From power off (with twrp recovery flashed): hold the VOLUME UP key while holding the POWER button until you can see logo, after it will appear twrp interface.
From fastboot mode: in desktop terminal run "fastboot boot <recovery img filename>"

"flash stock boot and stock recovery" is
With connected phone in the computer terminal run "fastboot flash boot <boot img filename>" and then "fastboot flash recovery <stock recovery img filename>" where "filenames" are stock boot and stock recovery which you have to download from 1 and 2 points of needed list there.

After backing up you'll see folder TWRP in the internal storage or sd card (depending on settings in the twrp). Find appropriate subfolder, archive and please upload it.

If you still not sure now, just don't do it

That would be great. Won't do that again. Are you able to do a systemless root?

I think I found a solution to your problem :-). I reproduced your issue by allowing system modification and ended in a static Unihertz screen and after a day worth of trial and error, I fixed it for me.
I updated twrp to remove the /custom issue and couple other issues: You can get the latest here:
https://mega.nz/#!0WICAZwD!cUSG8 ... xb0T-fAl9MrWeClnRBs

So the solution
Needed:
1. Stock boot: https://mega.nz/#!UbZASJTI!weBJa4uu9DGoJglpqHQMf3WE6hHplgqPJ7O5UBjDJAQ
2. Stock Recovery: https://mega.nz/#!9SoTVDbY!dZI7XYYSqwPaq2542lQFh5NNXbrA0KTqDCzy-46Dsd0
3. Twrp recovery: https://mega.nz/#!0WICAZwD!cUSG82h1SnuI_cDHWg9ir2w5xb0T-fAl9MrWeClnRBs
4. Latest Supersu flashable zip: http://www.supersu.com/download
Steps:
1. Go to fastboot mode and flash stock boot and stock recovery
2. Once you flash, directly go to stock recovery and do a factory reset. This will recreate /data
3. Now try booting and it will fail. But this boot process will populate /data with some needed files I think.
4. Now goto fastboot and flash the twrp recovery from above
5. Go directly to twrp recovery from here. Don't swipe to allow modifications. Click on 'Keep Readonly' Button
6. Go to adb sideload and sideload latest SuperSu.zip. Make sure that you uncheck wipe data and wipe cache. These should not be wiped - Important!
7. SuperSu will sideload successfully and disable verity and update boot partition. Now reboot
8. Phone will reboot twice or thrice, but you will get back to Android :-). And more over, this is a systemless root as well :-)

NOTE: Don't lock the bootloader back. It reverts the boot partition I think
This is not fully foolproof again. Factory reset is not working. Need to debug it. But atleast you can get to android now :-)

Please try this and let me know!

I have managed to get a Readback from the device. Will create a SPFT flashable Rom and upload soon. I also created a twrp for jelly pro:
https://mega.nz/#!0WICAZwD!cUSG82h1SnuI_cDHWg9ir2w5xb0T-fAl9MrWeClnRBs

Enjoy :-)
Note: Users are reporting booting issues after trying TWRP. This is because twrp modifies system partition and jelly pro has dm-verity enabled which prevents booting. So on the first screen of TWRP. Don't swipe to enable system modification. Click on 'Keep Readonly' button to proceed.

Is there way to use odin without using recovery?

Odin is a tool only for Samsung devices, it won't help us here at all.

I do not understand anything

I'm sure I followed all the steps, I did very slow assuring myself of  ...

As long as you haven't wiped your System partition they you should be OK.
You should be able to either reflash TWRP and reboot from there or flash back to the Stock bootloader (and recovery) and reboot from there as normal. (#22 again has most of the instructions)

Did you get a System backup in TWRP in the end?  Upload it somewhere and will see if it's working here

Fantastic instructions! Followed to a T and had no issues. Magisk is up and running. I had a few issues with fastboot, but I think it was the cable I was using. Would need to reboot bootloader after each one.

Happy to answer any questions in addition. For someone familiar with fastboot and ADB, this is a piece of cake.

@vineethrp, do you have a PayPal I can drop a few coins as appreciation?

I appreciate your volunteering, but if you're unfamiliar with ROM dumps you probably shouldn't do it, specifically for the concern you mentioned. Hopefully my phones will arrive soon and I'll do it if no one else with experience does it first. Some of the image files created would contain personal data which you'd want to exclude from the dump before posting it online.

I can probably get it done for u in a week since it's goingto arrive then, nevertheless, i wonder the followings:
1. adb drivers are uncertain before handset received.
2. I can dump a tar with adb, and pack/signature it to an update.zip, but cannot test in concern of brick it before offical rom is released.
3. /system only is enough for u?

BTW, in this thread http://www.unihertz.com/bbs/foru ... &extra=page%3D1, an offical recovery including "apply update" option was originally provided, I guess Jelly was designed in purpose of customizable device, whilst ROM Download is listed in the offical forum, the team is very likely going to release offical rom for mod.

Thanks alot for these!

Are you pursuing further development beyond TWRP?  (ie:  Getting Lineage ported to Jelly Pro?)
